What is this?

The premise is pretty simple: a couple times a month, I send out a Yiddish poem and my own English translation, along with context and commentary.

This substack borrows its title from the title of Jacob Glatstein’s 1961 poetry collection, a seminal work of modernist Yiddish literature.
